Pharmacy is an ancient healing art that has evolved over the centuries. Modern pharmacy’s reliance on the pharmaceutical sciences and clinical care models maintains its roots in the beginnings of civilization.
Through the MCV Pharmacy Heritage Collection, the VCU School of Pharmacy presents a living history of pharmacy using artifacts, memorabilia and stories displayed in the R. Blackwell Smith Building.
The Heritage Room, to be located in the first floor lobby of the Smith Building, will house the heart of the collection, offering a space for reflection, learning and small meetings.
The Collection will tell two stories: the evolution of medicines and their uses and the evolution of the profession of pharmacy in Virginia.
