Donald F. Brophy, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS conducts research in nephrology
pharmacotherapy at the VCU School of Pharmacy. Dr. Brophy’s primary area of
research focus is thrombosis and haemostasis in patients with chronic kidney
disease. Pictured here, along with Dr. Brophy is Erika J. Martin, MT (ASCP). Ms. Martin direct the
Coagulation Special Studies Laboratory at the VCU School of Medicine. This
laboratory has developed a novel coagulation assay that measures platelet
function and thrombin generation time. This novel assay is currently being
tested for its utility in monitoring anticoagulation in high risk thrombosis and
thrombophilic patients.
