The Student National Pharmaceutical Association
Healing Eagle Clinic
Description:
The Mattaponi Healing Eagle Clinic (MHEC) was created on the Mattaponi Indian Reservation in 1999. Meeting once a month, pharmacy and medical students work with nurse practitioners and doctors to serve the health needs of the community. The primary objective of the pharmacy students is to inspect the inventory, work with the health care professional to dispense medications that are in stock, and counsel patients. The shift can be broken up into 9-12 and 12-3 if this works better. It would be great to have 3 people per shift. With volunteering at the Clinic is it important to maintain a relationship with the people that you will be helping, this means that you will need to volunteer at least twice per year in order to be considered.
