Welcome to the School of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical
College of Virginia (MCV) Campus. We are pleased that you have an interest in our
programs. Pharmacy has been an integral part of the Medical College of Virginia
Campus since 1837.
Since its inception in 1898 the School of Pharmacy has been a leader in pharmacy
education and research. Consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report
as one of the top schools of pharmacy in the nation, the School of Pharmacy continually
strives to promote excellence in all of its programs. Our mission fully supports
the mission and goals of the University and the MCV Campus.
Our mission is to educate, create knowledge, and provide service for our students,
the pharmacy profession and the public. We are the only school of pharmacy to offer
a complete spectrum of academic programs in pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
These programs include the professional doctoral program in pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
as well as the MS and Ph.D. programs in the pharmaceutical sciences.
We also offer the doctor of pharmacy program to pharmacy practitioners holding the
BS degree in pharmacy in a nontraditional format. In addition, the School offers
several combined degree programs such as the PharmD/PhD, PharmD/MBA,and PharmD/MPH
for selected students who wish to pursue both degrees simultaneously. At the postdoctoral
level we offer a number of postgraduate residencies and fellowships in a wide range
of subspecialties of pharmacy practice. We also offer numerous postdoctoral fellowships
in the pharmaceutical sciences.
I sincerely hope you will find our web page informative as well as applicable to
your specific interests. All of us at the School of Pharmacy are excited about the
many opportunities we have to offer that can make a positive impact in the health
