VPhA 128th Annual Convention
Virginia Pharmacists Association hosted its 2009 convention Aug. 2-5 at Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach.
Bronwyn Burnham (B.S. ’89) took the helm as VPhA president; the president-elect designate, Cindy Warriner (B.S. ’86), is also an alumna.
More than 400 people attended the convention. About two dozen of them were members of the SOP student affiliate chapter, Virginia Academy of Student Pharmacists, whose 2009-10 president is Amy Dembowski (P3).
In addition to seminars, roundtables and updates, the convention also featured the annual VPhA Foundation Golf Tournament.
School of Pharmacy alumni who won awards were:

- Holly Hurley (Pharm.D. ’04): Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award
- Greg Large (B.S. ’77): Bowl of Hygeia Award
- Pat Resto (B.S. ’84): Virginia Pharmacist Service Award
- Delaina Richardson (Pharm.D. ’04): Ilene B. Stiff Local Association President’s Award
- Gene White (B.S. ’56): Outstanding Pharmacist Award
