Volunteers make all the difference
Department of Pharmacy faculty Evan M. Sisson and Rebeccah J. Collins have returned – along with 14 students – from what was anticipated as the biggest Remote Area Medical event of the year.
School of Pharmacy students who participated in the July 25-27 event in Wise County were: P2, Adam Krukas; P3, Vy Bui, Deanna Flora, Holly Gurgle, Maria Koumas, Stephen Milam, Teresa Nguyen, Brittany Rose, Lina Saliba, Lindsay Sanborn, Michael Sinks and Jennifer Witten; and P4, Traci Poole and David Clopton.
In the July 27 Richmond Times-Dispatch, reporter Louis Llovio wrote: “Since Friday, volunteer doctors, optometrists, pharmacists and dentists have been helping patients during 14-hour days.”

Coordinators at RAM headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn., say final numbers for the event have not yet been reported.
