SOP advisory group convenes in Richmond

The agenda runs the gamut from pediatric genomics to community service at the May 1 meeting of the School of Pharmacy’s National Advisory Council.

The group’s biannual meeting will take place at VCU’s Siegel Center on the Monroe Park Campus.

Janet Silvester (B.S. ’79) will chair the gathering in the absence of Ron Davis (B.S. ’73), who will not be in town.

Featured topics will include:

• A school update and report on Smith Building renovation plans by School of Pharmacy Dean Victor Yanchick
• A presentation on pediatric genomics by Mary Jayne Kennedy, assistant professor of pharmacy
• An update on admissions by Tom Reinders, associate dean for admissions and student services
• A discussion on the national agenda for reform and its implications for pharmacy by William Zellmer, ASHP writer-in-residence (and former deputy executive vice president)
• An update on MCV Foundation by Bill Kotti, MCV Foundation president
• A presentation (and later, discussion) on community service in the School of Pharmacy curriculum by Sallie Mayer, assistant professor of pharmacy; Kara Weaver (P2) and Michaiah Parker (P4)
