School of Pharmacy wins national RxIMPACT advocacy award Posted on: 4/4/2012 The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has named VCU School of Pharmacy the recipient of the 2012 NACDS RxIMPACT “U” Advocacy Award. The award is presented annually to pharmacy school students and campuses in recognition of their active engagement in pro-patient and pro-pharmacy grassroots advocacy.

Griffing named 2012-13 Congressional Healthcare Policy Fellow Posted on: 3/16/2012 Derek Griffing (Pharm.D., M.P.H.) of Cicero, Ill., has been named the 2012-13 ACCP/ASHP/VCU Congressional Healthcare Policy Fellow. The fellow program, now in its sixth year, provides pharmacists with unique insights into health-care policy analysis and development under the auspices of the VCU School of Pharmacy in collaboration with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

New SOP videos inspired by Smith Building donor wall Posted on: 2/24/2012 In 2011, the School of Pharmacy constructed a recognition wall in the lobby of the R. Blackwell Smith Jr. Building. The wall features the names of individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the school. It also features a video in which donors – alumni, faculty and students -- explain their motivations for giving back to the SOP.

Benefit art auction draws funds for student scholarships Posted on: 2/13/2012 A benefit art auction has raised nearly $11,000 for VCU School of Pharmacy student scholarships. A selection of watercolors by School of Pharmacy Dean Victor Yanchick was auctioned Feb. 3 at the Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences. A lively Lisa Schaffner, public relations and marketing director for UNOS, served as auctioneer.

School of Pharmacy to open second satellite campus at U.Va. Posted on: 1/4/2012 The School of Pharmacy will open a new satellite location this fall at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. It will be the school’s second regional pharmacy-education division.
