Application Process
Overview
Upon completion of the Graduate School application, submission of GRE and TOEFL
(foreign students only) scores, transcripts and recommendation letters, application
packages are sent to the School of Pharmacy for admission decisions. Many criteria
are evaluated when determining admissions to the School’s Graduate Program. We do
not just consider GRE scores when reviewing an application. Applicants are reviewed
and ranked on academic performance (VCU has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.7), class
rank during undergraduate education, advanced degrees, research experience (either
work related or through formal education), GRE scores (close attention is paid to
percentile scores; no cutoff score is specified though the entering class generally
has a minimum Q+V of 1000), TOEFL scores (note that 250 is the minimum VCU required
score) and candidate interviews. No single criteria is given priority, the application
is based on overall strengths. Only official VCU application packages will be reviewed
for admission.
Students are admitted with just undergraduate degrees, however, candidates with
Masters may be considered more favorably due to their research experience.
We have a rolling admission policy. We recommend that you submit your application
by December 1st for consideration for funded positions (October 1 deadline for the
Spring semester). Applications received after December 1 will also be considered
for funding based on availability. Please consult individual department websites
for policies regarding later admissions.
US Citizens and Permanent Residents can find admissions information and an application
from the VCU Graduate School.
